This Health & Safety Institute ASHI and MEDIC First Aid Child and Babysitting (CABS) training program is designed primarily for pre-teens and teens between the ages of 11 and 15 who are planning to provide babysitting services for young children and infants. The program includes instruction on the business of babysitting, proper supervision, basic caregiving skills, and guidelines on how to recognize and handle problems that may occur. This program is not designed to meet any regulatory requirements for child care providers. This training includes a certification in CPR/AED and First Aid for all ages: Adult, Child, and Infant.

Each month we read a new book and meet to discuss it together! Our selections span a wide range of genres and topics to keep things fresh, and they’re always thoughtful, engaging, and discussion-worthy.

How to get the book: Copies are available to check out from the front desk up to one month prior to our meeting, and no later than one week before the meeting. Books are provided by the Maricopa County Library District.

Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will achieve an American Safety & Health Institute CPR, AED, and First Aid certification. This course teaches lifesaving skills to use in an emergency. Digital pre-course work will be assigned to complete before the course.

The Float Test is a swimming competency test. It is conducted in deep water, with you wearing shorts
and a long-sleeved shirt in the water (over a suit is recommended). You will be asked to float, tread
water and/or swim in place for ten minutes—touching the bottom or sides of the pool is not allowed.

Join us for a fun, social space to play tabletop games, meet new people, and enjoy some friendly competition. Please register everyone who will be in attendance so we can prepare the correct amount of materials. Parent’s will need to accompany any children.

After enjoying your holiday pancakes join us in Santa’s workshop, where you can create your own ornament, wrap your gift, or write a letter to Santa.

Join us for a splash-tastic time at our YMCA Community Pool Party, where families come together for fun, laughter, and summer memories! This member-only event is all about celebrating our amazing YMCA community with an afternoon of swimming, games, music, and more.

Spooky Swim is a Halloween- themed community swim event at the Desert Foothills Family YMCA pool. This event will feature a floating “Pumpkin Patch” where participants can pick out their own pumpkin and decorate them on the pool deck.
