Desert Foothills Senior Community Excursions: Explore, Connect, Thrive! Our program is all about getting out, having fun, and making meaningful connections with others through community activities.

The Float Test is a swimming competency test. It is conducted in deep water, with you wearing shorts
and a long-sleeved shirt in the water (over a suit is recommended). You will be asked to float, tread
water and/or swim in place for ten minutes—touching the bottom or sides of the pool is not allowed.

The Y is honored to host a community CPR awareness and educational event. Participants will receive CPR & AED skills for adults, children, and infants, as well as basic First Aid skills such as caring for bleeding & extreme allergic reactions. This is not a certification course, however, attendees will receive a voucher for an upcoming certification program.

Join us for a fun, social space to play tabletop games, meet new people, and enjoy some friendly competition. Please register everyone who will be in attendance so we can prepare the correct amount of materials. Parent’s will need to accompany any children.

These classes are great for individuals, friend groups, teams, and organizations like Scouts, fraternities/sororities, faith groups, and other community clubs.
Courses may include:
• CPR/AED & First Aid – Learn how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies, cuts, burns, and other everyday injuries. Great for work, home, and community settings.
• Babysitting – Designed for youth ages 11+, this course teaches how to safely care for kids, handle emergencies, and build babysitting confidence.
• Wilderness & Remote First Aid – For those who spend time outdoors or in areas where EMS may be delayed. Learn how to respond to injuries when help isn’t right around the corner.
No experience needed. Courses are taught by certified Red Cross instructors and include hands-on practice, helpful take-home materials, and official certification upon completion.

Spooky Swim is a Halloween- themed community swim event at the Desert Foothills Family YMCA pool. This event will feature a floating “Pumpkin Patch” where participants can pick out their own pumpkin and decorate them on the pool deck.
