As the largest provider of swim lessons in the country, there’s no one more qualified than the Y to ensure swimmers build confidence with every stroke. Welcoming kids and adults of all ages and abilities, our program offers a clear progression track to monitor achievement while every lesson emphasizes personal safety around water.

What lesson level should I choose?
School Age Beginner
Aligned with Stages 1/2 (Ages 6–12)Introduces school-age children to the water in a safe, supportive environment. Swimmers learn to submerge, float, and begin forward movement while developing early self-rescue skills—first with assistance, then independently.

School Age Intermediate
Aligned with Stages 3/4 (Ages 6–12)For swimmers ready to go beyond the basics. Focuses on developing stroke techniques for front crawl and back crawl, introduces butterfly and breaststroke kicks, and reinforces safety through treading water and swimming longer distances.
