As the largest provider of swim lessons in the country, there’s no one more qualified than the Y to ensure swimmers build confidence with every stroke. Welcoming kids and adults of all ages and abilities, our program offers a clear progression track to monitor achievement while every lesson emphasizes personal safety around water. What lesson level should I choose? Preschool Beginner Aligned with Stages 1/2 (Ages 3–5) Focuses on building comfort in the water while introducing basic safety and self-rescue skills with instructor support. Swimmers learn to submerge, float with help, and begin independent movement in the water through fun, age-appropriate activities. Preschool Intermediate Aligned with Stages 3/4 (Ages 3–5) Designed for preschoolers who are comfortable in the water and ready to swim short distances. Swimmers begin learning basic strokes like front crawl and back crawl, practice treading water, and build confidence with more independent self-rescue skills.
